Mick Armson at the White Lion Street Gallery

Mick studied at Liverpool Polytechnic and subsequently worked as a freelance Illustrator for such diverse clients as London Transport, Time Out and The Guardian. During this time he also exhibited widely in shows such as The National Printmaking Exhibition at The Mall Galleries and taught on many BA Illustration courses.

He took a career break from 2000-2008 in order to be at home with his young children and to commit to voluntary work as a very successful Chair of Governors at two local schools.
However, Mick continued painting and drawing during this time, recently returning to the studio and to his passion for printmaking.

He lives in Greenwich and also spends as much time as possible on the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales. Indeed, both the River Thames and the SW Welsh coast currently provide the main sources of inspiration for his drawings and paintings that are completed on location and form the basis for lino prints produced in the studio.

The resulting coastal and urban landscapes aim to convey a sense of movement through a moment in time. They often contain an element of narrative and always pay attention to closely observed incidental detail.
