General information and conditions for exhibiting in the gallery

1/ We exhibit the widest  possible range of high quality original art,  and welcome approaches  from  established  artists and  those whose work  has yet to reach a wider public. We have space for solo and group shows as well as for display of smaller numbers of work on an occasional or regular basis for other artists. Please note however that space for solo exhibitions is booked some way ahead and that we are only able to take the work of a limited number of new artists from time to time.

An initial approach by e mail with jpeg images attached or with a link to your website (if you have one) is preferred.

When coming to see us, please telephone to arrange a convenient time for us to view new work, and allow plenty of time as we may be distracted by gallery visitors, or even better arrange to leave your work with us so that we have time to give it proper consideration.

2/ In order to be exhibited, new artists need to show us work that is different from anything we already have. We need to be convinced that there is a reasonable chance of achieving a sale and prefer not to show work that has already been exhibited elsewhere without a sale.

3/ We will not  usually display the work of those who already have open studios, galleries or established sales outlets nearby (but will  display  leaflets and posters on a reciprocal basis)

4/ We only show original artwork not reproductions or photographs.
We have a small selection of cards but only source these from our exhibiting artists.

5/ All work  must  be for sale and will be  accepted on a sale or return basis only.

6/ Commission at 40%  will be deducted from the sale price of all work sold by us.

7/ Unless instructed otherwise by you, we will be happy to pass on your details to visitors who, having seen your work in our gallery wish to commission work directly from you, subject to you agreeing to pay us commission at the usual rate.

8/ Exhibitors will usually receive a monthly statement of the  sales of their work, together with payment  for any work sold.

9/ Whilst  every possible care will be taken in the  handling of exhibited work and in the security of the premises, we must  advise you that all work is shown at your own risk. You are strongly advised to arrange your own insurance while your work is exhibited here.

10/ We will usually show artists' work on our website while it is on our walls.
Any web sales that result will be subject to our usual commission.

11/ We reserve the right to display your work as and where we choose within the gallery. Our displays are changed frequently to keep them fresh for regular visitors. Unsold work that is attracting attention from visitors will remain longer on the walls. All exhibitors are asked to review the work they have here at regular intervals. Since we have limited storage space we will let you know as soon as possible when we take work down.

12/ A separate information sheet is available to help those who are preparing for a solo or group exhibition in the Gallery.
